is there a way i can change the image description testbox to a testarea feild, to allow the user to be able to see move of the text they type in when they upload a photo?

Hey Darryl,
Not an option as of now. In future releases I'd like to clean up the way the upload form looks on the front end for both the widget and post shortcode. Including a better description field and more custom fields for images.
