Really nice job — installed and worked on 2.8.5 no problems. I would like to see a couple of enhancements, though.
I run a multi-author WP site for my photo club, and each member has their own gallery. We also have several “pool” galleries that every member may contribute to. So, it would be nice to have a drop-down for the user to be able to select which gallery they want to upload to.
It would also be nice if the images were automatically resized on upload to an admin-defined maximum size.

Spoke too soon … only works sometimes in 2.8.5. No rhyme or reason as to when it will and when in won't. <img title=”Cry” src=”http://webdevstudios.com/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-cry.gif” alt=”Cry” />

Okay, figured that not working in 2.8.5 thing out — it's the permissions. However, I've discovered that if other settings are modified in the uploader settings admin page, then user role gets reset — you have to keep an eye on that setting when you're making other changes.

I think letting users select which gallery they can upload to is a great idea as well. I've been super busy with other things and wish I had more time to devote to this plugin. I wouldn't expect to see this in the next few releases, but I'll add this to my “To-do” list.
I'll look into image resizing as well.
Also, thanks for the bug/error reports. The community has been great at helping through the development stages.
